ABOUT ANP & THE GARDEN ART SIGNS PROJECT

The Alchemical Nursery Project (ANP) currently stewards, grows, and propagates at FIVE sites within the City of Syracuse.  We've taken these originally vacant, uncared for, and abandoned sites and transformed them into ecologically productive sources of biodiversity, food production, ecological services, and beauty.  Our Garden Art Signs project is one of our fundraising efforts to sustain our work.

At multiple community events through the year, including Earth Day at Thornden Park, (R)evolution art shows at the Gear Factory, special events at Spark Contemporary Art Space, among others, we set up our community painting table where we provide the sign boards, the paint, the brushes, and the clean-up materials, and crowdsource artists who volunteer their time and skills to paint one or more art signs based on species that we are growing at our sites.

We then use the art signs in our growing spaces to educate and help users identify plants.  We provide surplus signs at a discount to our supporting members as a perk, and sell full-price to others as they grow their collections.
